Premium Session



Your tour guide Peter Starr has a Masters Degree in Astronomy and was the former manager at Siding Spring Observatory.

The session is limited to a maximum group size of 6 people.
The Session includes
A more detailed astronomy presentation.
Point out the stars & constellations with a laser pointer.
Give you a tour of the night sky using a pair of binoculars (adults only)
View more objects through our telescopes with no long queues.
Answer your astronomy questions.
If you bring a canon or nikon DSLR camera, or have a standard SD card, or purchase one of our SD cards, we take 4 photos of deep sky objects through our telescope.
Give you a printed postcard size picture of a nebula taken through one of our telescopes.

$105 per person

plus a small booking fee.

The session is not held on nights around full moon as the sky is too bright and limits the number of objects we can show you.


The session is not normally run in school holidays as we run several of the general shows. ​



Cloudy Nights



If the night is too cloudy or it is raining, we cancel the session and issue a full refund.



Cancellations



7 days notice is required in order to receive a refund if you wish to cancel.

The small ticketing fee is non-refundable.

If less than 7 days notice is given, a refund is only given if we can resell your ticket.



Photography



Compatible DSLR cameras.It must have a lens that can be removed.
Canon EOS or mirrorless M or RNikon.Sony DSR or mirrorless.Pentax.
Alternatively bring a standard SD card to use our camera.Ensure you know your camera settings eg. Manual, iso, exp time, live view, magnify live view, set to taking an exposure with the lens removed.


What to bring



The show is held outdoors.


Bring lots of warm clothes, especially between April and October. A beanie & a scarf really keeps the heat in.


In summer we can get a few mozzies. Please put some insect repellant on any uncovered areas.

Photography: We can take 4 photographs with your Canon, Nikon, DSLR camera on moonless nights. Orion Nebula, Tarantula Nebula, 47 Tucanae, Eta Carina Nebula. When the Moon is visible we photograph the Moon, 47 Tucanae, Orion Nebula.
